IPL Photofacial in Busan, Korea Intense pulsed light for sun spots, freckles and redness, and the laser alternatives your doctor may suggest
IPL treats brown spots and redness in the same session, which makes it a classic choice for sun-damaged, uneven skin. At JRYN Seomyeon, Dr. Kim compares IPL with targeted lasers such as Excel V, Vbeam and pico toning, and recommends the option that fits your skin type.

What is an IPL photofacial?
An IPL photofacial uses intense pulsed light, a broad spectrum of light filtered to a range of wavelengths, to treat several concerns at once. The light is absorbed by melanin in brown spots and by blood in small vessels. Spots usually darken and flake off over about a week, and redness fades gradually. It works best on lighter skin with sun spots, freckles and diffuse redness, and is often done as a course of a few sessions.
IPL is not on JRYN Seomyeon's published price menu, so ask on WhatsApp whether it is available for your dates and what it costs. Dr. Kim may recommend a listed alternative instead, such as Excel V (₩99,000) or Vbeam Perfecta (₩200,000) for redness, or pico toning from ₩20,000 for pigment.

IPL Photofacial FAQ
Still have questions? Message us on WhatsApp and we will answer in English.
How much is an IPL photofacial at JRYN Seomyeon?
IPL is not on JRYN's published price menu, so please ask on WhatsApp whether it is available for your dates and what it costs. Listed alternatives include Excel V at ₩99,000 and Vbeam Perfecta at ₩200,000 per session for redness, and pico toning from ₩20,000 per session for pigment.
What does IPL treat?
IPL is mainly used for sun spots, freckles, uneven skin tone, diffuse redness and fine visible vessels, especially on sun-damaged skin. It can also give a mild improvement in skin texture. It is not the right choice for melasma, deep wrinkles or acne scars.
Is IPL good for melasma?
Usually not. Melasma is sensitive to heat and light, and IPL can make it darker or cause it to rebound. Low-energy laser toning, such as pico toning, together with daily sunscreen and medical skin care, is the more common approach. The doctor checks for melasma before any light treatment.
Does IPL hurt?
Most people describe each flash as a quick snap, like a rubber band on the skin, with some warmth afterwards. Cooling gel is used during treatment. Numbing cream is usually not needed, but you can ask.
What is the downtime after IPL?
Social downtime is short. Skin may be pink and warm for a few hours. Treated brown spots usually turn darker, like coffee grounds, and flake off within about a week. You can normally wear makeup the next day and should use sunscreen every day.
How many IPL sessions will I need?
Many people have around three to five sessions, about a month apart, for an even result. Fewer may be enough for a few isolated spots. New spots can appear with sun exposure, so occasional maintenance is common.
IPL or laser: which is better?
Neither is better for everyone. IPL treats several concerns at once on lighter skin, while lasers are more precise for a single target, such as vessels with Excel V or Vbeam, or pigment with pico toning. Lasers are often safer for darker skin and melasma. Your doctor recommends the option that fits your skin.
Can I have IPL just before a beach holiday?
It is better not to. Strong sun after IPL raises the risk of dark marks, and tanned skin is harder to treat safely. Plan IPL when you can avoid strong sun for a few weeks, and wear a high-SPF sunscreen daily.
