What causes uneven skin coloration, and can it be treated?
Uneven skin coloration usually comes from one of three things: extra melanin (brown spots, freckles, melasma and post-acne marks), visible blood vessels or inflammation (redness, broken capillaries and red acne marks), or a dull surface from dehydration and slow skin renewal. Most types can be improved without surgery, but the right treatment depends on which one you have, and many people have more than one.

How do I know what type of discoloration I have?
A doctor can tell by examining the skin closely. Brown means extra pigment, red or pink usually means blood vessels or inflammation, and grey or sallow often means dullness. Many people have a mix, which is why diagnosis comes first.

How many sessions will I need?
Freckles and sun spots can lighten noticeably after one or two sessions. Melasma, post-acne marks and redness usually need a course of several sessions. Your doctor gives an estimate after examining your skin.
Can melasma be removed permanently?
Melasma can be lightened, but it tends to come back with sun, heat and hormonal changes. Gentle toning, strict sun protection and maintenance give the best long-term control.
Is there downtime?
Toning usually leaves only mild redness for a few hours. Treating individual spots can leave small darkened patches that flake off within about a week. Vascular lasers may cause brief redness or slight swelling.
Can I treat pigmentation while visiting Busan?
Yes. Toning has little downtime and fits a short trip. If spot treatment is planned, do it early in your stay and protect the area from the sun.
What can I do at home to keep my tone even?
Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, reapply outdoors, and avoid picking spots. Ask the doctor about brightening skincare that suits your skin type.
